Stop Smoking Marijuana – When Willpower’s Not Enough
Most people think those who are addicted to weed or other drugs just need stronger willpower to quit their addiction. This kind of thinking couldn’t be further from the truth.
When a person has been smoking weed everyday for many years or a substantial amount of time, trying to quit using willpower alone almost never works. So, why is it so hard to just stop the destructive behavior?
Because the source of addiction isn’t the drug itself but the desire for a mood changer. Successful recovery means ultimately changing the way one lives on a day to day basis.
For stoners it’s more of a psychological addiction because everything is better when you’re stoned. The desire for that mood changer is mostly all the time.
I know from past experience. Before doing anything I would smoke a couple bowls before I left the house so I would be good and stoned whenever I got there.
Going to the movies, the bar, PS3 Modern Warfare Online, whatever. Heck when I used to go golfing I’d bring my dugout nice and full and stick it my golf bag. I’d smoke one hitters all over the golf course. I called it “The Shot Doctor”. The way I thought then, if I was playin like crap I hadn’t smoked enough. So I’d smoke some more.
Needless to say, when I finally stopped smoking marijuana I realized my logic wasn’t exactly producing the results I wanted on the course. I now hit the ball much better and further than ever before. Ok, this is beginning to sound like a freakin golf commercial. I apologize.
Anyhow you get my point. Quitting means a change in lifestyle. Changing what you do in your idle time when you’d normally be smoking some spliff. Change what you’re doing and you’ll be on your way to a life without marijuana. Go For It!
